College CLEP Study
By: Wayne Hemrick
CLEP testing is perhaps the fastest and most economical way to earn college credit based on material one has already mastered. The CLEP, or College Level Examination Program, allows one to bypass the necessity of having to sit through classes at exorbitant tuition costs. It does require CLEP prep, of course - and this means having some intrinsic motivators (as if the savings in terms of time and money weren't enough!). Fortunately, there is no shortage of CLEP test prep materials in print and on the World Wide Web that will be of great help to the CLEP testing candidate.
The CLEP Study Guide
When it comes to efffective CLEP test prep, a CLEP study guide can be an invaluable tool. Avail yourself of these CLEP testing preparatory materials and you'll be well ahead of the game.
Reliable CLEP prep materials can help you in a number of different ways; these include sample questions and practice tests (it's a "standardized" test, after all). These CLEP prep materials and study guides can also help you in determining if there are "gaps" in your knowledge that you need to fill.
Remember when going through the sample CLEP test prep exams to time yourself; it's not just about your knowledge; after all, it's about how well and how fast you take tests. With all due respect to Aesop, there is little room for the intellectual tortoise in this race.
This is why it's also a good idea to review the general test taking skills that enabled you to survive the last seven years of NCLB standardized testing; this means pacing yourself over an extended period of time prior to the day of CLEP testing rather than attempting to "cram" the night before, which is a poor strategy in any event.
Remember the story of of young man who asked someone in New York City how to get to Carnegie Hall and the answer he received: "Practice, man, practice." The same applies to standardized testing situations.
Other Things To Keep In Mind - The human body is essentially a life-support system for the brain. Therefore, the night before CLEP day, make sure you get a full night's sleep. That morning, choose breakfast foods that are high in protein. Make sure you have everything you need before leaving for the CLEP testing site; that way, you will maximize your chances for success.
